waterSmart Students Dive into waterArt

By Allen Haynes, Director, Public Relations

America’s youth possess a spirit that drives them toward self-expression and a desire to change the world. Inspired by this exuberance, students from Cobb and Paulding counties competed in the 15th annual waterSmart waterArt calendar contest on behalf of the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority (CCMWA).

The 2016 calendar was unveiled and the winners were announced during a reception and ceremony at The Art Station – Big Shanty in Marietta, Ga. on Nov. 18.

The contest invited students to create a piece of art depicting the value of water using any medium they preferred. The participants took this to heart as we saw compelling entries ranging from pallet wood and oil and water-based paints to colored pencils and crayons.

The waterArt program is a tribute to the value of water and serves as a component of waterSmart – a 15-year, award-winning water conservation program that Duffey developed for CCMWA, the second largest provider of drinking water in Georgia.

Congratulations to this year’s winners and thank you to all who participated! To learn more about the waterSmart program and its initiatives, and to download a copy of the 2016 waterArt calendar, visit www.waterSmart.net.
