The year was 1996, the Summer Olympics were being held in Atlanta and Kroger, the world's largest traditional grocery retailer, needed a big idea to lift itself above the crowd. And Duffey did just that – literally elevating the brand by deploying the world’s largest blimp, “Kroger Spirit of Atlanta,” to soar over the games. This high-profile promotion earned domestic and international media coverage in all 50 states and 31 countries.
So what? That was twenty years ago ….
Today, Duffey and Kroger’s Southeast Division continue to work together elevating Kroger’s positioning as a valuable corporate neighbor that invests in local communities. From community relations, philanthropic initiatives, celebrity appearances, retail promotions to media relations, issues management – and more big ideas, we have continued to achieve soaring results – including more than 430 million media impressions in 2015, helping Kroger raise more than $6 million for local and national causes.
